"Munna Bhai M.B.B.S." is a 2003 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The movie stars Sanjay Dutt as Munna Bhai, a lovable Mumbai underworld don, and Arshad Warsi as his loyal sidekick, Circuit.
The story revolves around Murli Prasad Sharma, affectionately known as Munna Bhai, who has established a false persona as a medical doctor to appease his father, Hari Prasad Sharma (played by Sunil Dutt), a retired school teacher. Munna's father is proud of his son's supposed medical career, but in reality, Munna runs a small gang and is involved in various criminal activities.
The facade comes crashing down when Munna's parents come to Mumbai for an unexpected visit. Munna's father discovers the truth and is heartbroken. He clashes with Dr. Asthana (played by Boman Irani), the college's strict dean, who becomes determined to expel Munna. However, Munna's warm-hearted nature and his philosophy of treating patients with love and care endear him to the hospital staff and patients alike.
The film combines humor with social messages, highlighting the importance of empathy and human touch in medicine. Munna's journey is not just about earning a degree but also about learning the true essence of being a doctor. Eventually, his unique approach brings about a positive change in the hospital environment.
